What glorious news! Soisgeul's Làn Dùil online festival is nominated in the 2021 Trad Awards.

Soisgeul - The Gaelic Gospel Choir's lockdown Làn Dùil online festival is nominated in the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards for 2021. The Làn Dùil festival was held in 'full hope and expectation' of being able to be together again to raise our voices in harmony. It was a solidarity with every one of our singers who so much missed being able to rock up the gospel in Gaelic in real life.

Soisgeul’s Artistic Director, Mary Ann Kennedy said: “ I loved sitting in on Gareth Fuller's sessions, belting out the top lines in the songs, all on my lonesome in the Watercolour Music studio. And the ceilidh that night was also something really special, with beautiful performances from Nicola Pearson, Kerrie Kennedy, Jacqueline Cotter, Lyle Kennedy and others, and hosted by the now Mòd Gold Medallist John Joe MacNeil. We had 'dances for the front room' from Ingrid Henderson NicEanraig (also nominated for Musician of the Year!) and Iain MacFarlane, and we all had a lovely, lovely time”

We are so looking forward to the chance to be able to do it all in real life, but please help us recognise all those who helped make this special weekend a reality by voting here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Tradsvoting2021.

The last time most of us had sung together was the previous real-life Soisgeul weekend in Inverness just before the first lockdown in March 2020, so this one meant a great deal to us all. A video of Soisgeul learning and rehearsing Saoradh Gu’ D’ Rinn Mo Rìgh Air Dàniel (Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel) during that wonderful weekend of song can be viewed by clicking the link to the At Work and Play page in the menu above.

We also want to thank James Graham and his team Royal National Mòd for the incredible support that made Làn Dùil a technical possibility and success. And thanks as ever to Nick Low of Demus Productions for the whole idea in the first place!

So please vote Soisgeul! https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Tradsvoting2021
