Soisgeul looks forward with hope in online festival

The ‘Làn-Dùil’ weekend kicks off on Friday April 23rd with a special online showing of performances from key inspirations for Soisgeul over the years.

Online workshops on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th led by Gareth Fuller and Mary Ann Kennedy will introduce new singers and established Soisgeul members to new repertoire, and take them through some firm musical favourites.

On Sunday morning, there’s also a unique opportunity to watch the Demus Productions documentary for BBC ALBA tracing the formation of the choir.

Soisgeul performance at the Eastgate Centre, Inverness

Soisgeul – the amazing Gaelic Gospel Choir - is in Inverness for a very special weekend of events looking forward to the Royal National Mòd coming to the Highland Capital in October. 

Led by renowned choral leaders Gareth Fuller and Mary Ann Kennedy, the choir will showcase their unique Gaelic interpretations of Gospel classics and a Gaelic spiritual favourite at a public performance in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness on Sunday 15 March from 2pm.

Soisgeul gratefully acknowledge the support of Creative Scotland through their Tasgadh Traditional Arts Small Grants Fund.

Mòd 2020 Fundraising Cèilidh

Soisgeul – the amazing Gaelic Gospel Choir - is in Inverness for a very special weekend of events looking forward to the Royal National Mòd coming to the Highland Capital in October. 

Led by renowned choral leaders Gareth Fuller and Mary Ann Kennedy, the choir will perform their unique Gaelic interpretations of Gospel classics and a Gaelic spiritual favourite at Jury’s Inn (the old Thistle Hotel) on Saturday 14th March, where they have the honour of supporting the legendary Iain ‘Costello’ MacIver and New Tradition. 

Don’t miss this chance to experience some life-affirming new music, and a brilliant cèilidh!

Gaelic Gospel Singing Workshop

Mary Ann Kennedy, Gareth Fuller and Paul Watson will be leading a weekend of workshops and two special showcase performance slots supporting the fundraising for Mòd Inbhir Nis 2020, all part of a whole lot of exciting things going on this weekend looking towards the National Mòd coming back to the Highland Capital.

As ever this is an open invitation to anyone who wants to be a part of the most exciting sound in Gaelic choral music today! We will be very happy to see old friends and encounter new voices alike.

Celtic Praise

Part of the fringe programme for the Royal National Mod 2019, Celtic Praise is a unique opportunity to enjoy an absolute feast of lively Gospel singing by Gaelic and English Gospel Choirs in the elegant, prestige setting of Princes Square – with option to pre-book and dine in one of Princes Square’s many fine restaurants.

Under the leadership of Gareth Fuller, whose musical prowess spans a range of music genre and has seen him work with TV programmes like The Voice, orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic and recording artists like Will Young, the Soisgeul Choir, made up of singers from around Scotland bring us an evening of Celtic Praise music in the fantastic surroundings of Princes Square, Buchanan Street, Glasgow.

GLÒIR

A memorial concert for the late John Macleod will take place in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh in May 2019. A celebration of Gaelic spiritual music, it will feature massed Gaelic choirs, harps, students from the City of Edinburgh Music School plus Soisgeul, the Gaelic Gospel Choir.

Gaelic Gospel Singing Workshop

Soisgeul will be holding a workshop in Inverness, led by renowned Gospel choir director, Gareth Fuller, and Gaelic musician and broadcaster, Mary Ann Kennedy.

All singers are welcome to attend the workshop.

Knowledge of Gaelic is not essential as support and tuition will be available on the day. All that is needed is a willingness to learn and lots of enthusiasm!

If you enjoy the session, you might also want to consider being part of the Soisgeul performance at GLÒIR in The Usher Hall in Edinburgh on the 4th of May.

There workshop costs £10.00, payable in advance to Soisgeul (Sort code 80-47-45, account 11640064)
